Meet our new School Counselor, Becky Wright-
Greetings Bay Harbor Families!
I am very excited to begin a new adventure working at Bay Harbor as the new School Counselor. I have been a counselor for 9 years and feel very blessed that my work has brought me back “home”. My husband and I are graduates of the Howard-Suamico School District and are thrilled to move back here with our 2 children. I look forward to getting to know your child through life skills class, small groups, and individual counseling as needed. Please contact me any time regarding any concerns you have about your child, I love to collaborate and will be happy to help. You can find me at Bay Harbor on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The staff and students have already done an awesome job welcoming me as a Sailor.

Digital Citizenship (The Appropriate Use of Technology) Online Safety is the focus of this first entry in the "Digi Know" series. Look for articles related to other digital citizenship topics in future newsletters. This information is being provided to you by the district’s elementary and intermediate library media/technology integration specialists. Online Safety So much of what we do today involves the use of technology. Our children have never known a world without it. Just like we find ways to protect our kids at home, at school, and in our communities, we can take steps to keep our kids safe while they are online. The National Center for Exploited Children suggests the following as things we can do to promote online safety. ● Place the computer and digital devices with Internet access in a family room or other high-traffic area of your home. ● Keep the lines of communication open with your children. Include online safety in your discussions. ● Set limits on the sites your kids can visit and on the time they spend online. ● Invite your kids to show you what they like to do online. ● Learn who your kids are connecting with via e-mail, instant messaging, webcams, social networking, and online gaming. ● Set rules for these activities and monitor all technology with Internet access including cell phones, laptops, and gaming devices. For more information about online safety, your child’s library media/technology integration specialist recommends the following resources: Internet Safety Tips for Students and Parents National Crime Prevention Council: Tips for Parents OnGuardOnline.gov: Parents Protecting Your Kids Online
