Father/Daughter Dance Friday, March 11th, 6:00-8:00 Bay Harbor Gym March 11th is the Father/Daughter Dance - it will be a night to remember! A DJ will be providing music for the dance. A photographer will be there to take photos with the girls and their "special person". Also, refreshments will be served for a minimal price. Girls, feel free to put on a special outfit for your special night! Note - If Dad can't make it, NO WORRIES! Girls can bring that "special person" in her life, like Grandpa, an Uncle, a brother, step-dad or a family friend. NEEDED - Baked goods (cupcakes, cookies, cakes, bars) are still needed for the "Dessert Cafe" at the dance. If you are able to donate, please contact Sarah Gillette at [email protected]. All donated items should be brought to school on Friday, March 11th by the end of the school day (1:30 - this is an early release day). Thank you! |
Bay Harbor's Giving Tree Food Drive - going on this week! February 29th - March 4th The Giving Tree needs our help! Our goal is to reach 1,000 food items! Students should bring in any donated food items to their classroom where they will be collected and tallied. Click here to read more! |

Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, the school calendar will include three Teacher Professional Development days. Students will not have school on these three days. The time for these days will be realized through minor adjustments to the start and end times for students to ensure that we meet Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction guidelines. Please see those times listed below. Additionally, the number of early release days at the Elementary level will be adjusted from ten to six. Lineville, Bay View and Bay Port will retain the two early release dates. 4K Registration is available online starting February 1, 2016 on the Howard Suamico District website atwww.hssd.k12.wi.us/registration for 2016-2017 using our automated online registration system InfoSnap. Walk-In Registration will be available at the Howard - Suamico School District Office February 1 (8 am to 4 pm). To secure your child’s registration for the 2016-17 school year, the time to register is now. It is important for you complete the registration and provide verifications as soon as possible to finalize the registration process (NOTE: child must be 4-years-old on or before September 1, 2016). You may register anywhere there is internet access or at a kiosk located at one of the elementary schools or at the district office. Child Find is a continuous process of public awareness activities, screening and evaluation designed to locate, identify, and refer as early as possible all young children with disabilities and their families who are in need of an Early Intervention Program (Part C) or Early Childhood Special Education (Part B) services of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Child Find Screenings are sponsored by the Howard-Suamico School District as a complimentary service to assess a child’s developmental progress according to their age. School Store This Friday!
Reminder about the New School Store Item! School store is this Friday, March 4th. We will be featuring a new item - a "Stylus Pen" with "Bay Harbor Sailors" printed on it. The cost for this pen is only $2.00! Remember, all proceeds from the School Store go to our Student Council who sponsor various events and activities during the school year. Attention parents and guardians of 3rd and 4th graders! All students in 3rd and 4th grade will participate in the WI Forward Exam starting in April. There will be more information coming soon, but we wanted to share the dates with you so you can plan ahead regarding absences. Students test the best in their natural environment with their peers, so please try to plan ahead if possible regarding missed school due to appointments, etc. 3rd Grade tests- April 12, 13,14 4th Grade tests- April 25,26 and May 2,3, & 9 SAVE THE DATE! After 42 years, Campbell’s Labels for Education is discontinuing the program at the end of this school year. Some of you may have noticed already that some of the products (Pepperidge Farm Goldfish & Spaghettios for instance) no longer have the Labels for Education logo around the UPCs. You can continue to send in labels until the end of the school year. We have used this program to purchase playground balls and sidewalk chalk for recess so I will be placing our final order in June. On Wednesday, March 9th, students in 4th grade will visit Lineville Intermediate School for a Music Class Demonstration. Your child will need to choose a music class for 5th grade. Musicians in Band, Chorus, and Orchestra will perform for the 4th graders and discuss the music class options. After March 9th you will be able to register your class choice using an internet link which will be emailed to you. Music class registrations will be due by March 19th. Band and Orchestra students are strongly encouraged to take summer school music classes to get started with instruments. More music class information will be available on the March 9th registration document and is also assessable on music class websites ( http://linevillehssd.weebly.com Reminder to parents/guardians of 4th graders - Class Trip to Madison - June 2nd.... SPECIAL NOTE: March 31st - deadline for processing back ground checks! If you plan on attending this trip with your son or daughter, please remember that you will need to have an approved volunteer back-ground check on file. The time to get approved is getting short. Please read the directions below if you still need to do this. Thank you! Mark your Calendar for Summer School! On line registration begins Tuesday, April 12th at 4:30 pm. The registration process for volunteering has been streamlined. All volunteer applications need to be completed online in our volunteer program, Better Impact. Background checks will also be completed online at the BIB (Background Investigation Bureau) web site. No more paperwork to shuffle! This provides a secure environment for your information. If you are planning to volunteer at school or go on a field trip, please register in Better Impact by March 31st. Registration directions are on the district website under the Community tab, Volunteer Program (or click here for directions). The link to the background check web site will be emailed to you after your application is received. Inclement weather may necessitate the closing or delay of schools. If schools are closed this will also include the cancellation of extracurricular activities and the events in the community pool unless otherwise announced. Please listen to local radio or television stations for school closings or delays. Such weather may also deter students from going outside during the school day. Please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. In addition to local radio and television, weather conditions can be checked on-line at www.hssd.k12.wi.us.
