A Message from Mr. Ebeling,
Welcome to Fall! The leaves are changing colors, the temps are falling and students are really beginning to settle in and find their groove. Our crew is doing an AMAZING job creating engaging learning opportunities for kids...which has made this the best start to a school year yet! I am excited to update you on some Bay Harbor happenings:
NEW PLAYGROUND
The ground has been cleared and the building process is beginning to take place. As some of you know, since the beginning years of BH, portions of our overall fundraising would go towards a playground expansion. Because of many very successful Fall Fests and yearly family donations, we were able to make the phase 1 playground build a reality. We will be adding pictures and videos of this process to future newsletters.
Our phase 2 will focus on better handicap accessibility which will include rubberized flooring, etc. We will be working on getting outside grants for that phase of the build.
CREATION DAYS
I want to make you aware of three Fridays (10/7, 2/3, 4/28) during the school year when there is no school for students but staff will be taking part in “Creation Days”. These are going to be amazing growth opportunities for our staff that will directly and positively impact student learning experiences. During these days, staff will have the opportunity to truly lead their learning which may include: attending PD sessions, Delivering PD sessions, Working with other groups of teachers (from any school), etc. with the main goal of re-designing learning opportunities for students. Our main goal is to personalize learning for students and our crew is on-board to make it happen.
FALL FEST and our PTO Donations
Please make sure to save the date for our annual Fall Fest which will be held on November 12th from 11-3:00. This is the largest family event we have each year and provides a good amount of fundraising money for our school. Please keep your ears open for ways you may help.
As members of the Bay Harbor PTO, we ask that all families do a donation “buy-out” of $40 (or any dollar amount) so that we do not have to do fundraisers throughout the year to supplement the budget (e.g. pizza sales, cookie dough, etc.). Donations are tax deductible! The money helps provide grants for teachers as well as for us to provide crucial learning enhancements to our students that would not be possible without it. Thank you in advance for your participation.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
The dates for our conferences (10/18, 10/25, 10/27) are fast approaching. On-line conference sign-up (TEESO) will begin on October 8th and will end on the 16th. A reminder (phone and email with direct links) will be sent out on the 8th to let you know that you can sign-up.
We are working hard to have students play a larger role in their learning which begins with conferences.
