Bay Harbor is holding a FOOD DRIVE for the Giving Tree food pantry in our community.
The food drive will run from Oct 1-11.
Bins will be located in the main hallway at school. The Giving Tree has shared they are in need of the following items:
- Mac & cheese
- Canned pasta
- Canned spaghetti sauce
- soup
- peanut butter
- Cereal
- Applesauce
- tuna fish
- Boxed rice and potato sides
Last year Bay Harbor collect 739 pounds of food items! Our 4th grade will be volunteering at the Giving Tree on Oct 31.
Bay Harbor 4th graders will be volunteering at the "Feed My Starving Children" mobile packing meal event on Oct. 8th.
Do you know that one meal costs less than a quarter, so wouldn't it be awesome if each Bay Harbor student would donate just one quarter to feed a child in need?
This "QUARTER COLLECTION" will be held from Oct 1-4th. There will be a jar in the main hallway to collect quarters before the start of school, then the jar will be moved into the school office.
Thank you in advance!

Picture Day!
Tuesday, October 1st! Picture Order forms will be sent home with students on that day. Insights into Innovation
Brand new to HSSD this year are the Innovation courses for all k-4 students. This course meets once per week for 30 minutes. Kara Bunkelman is teaching all K-2 classes and Kim DeTennis is teaching grades three & four. The K-4 Innovation Course will provide students with critical thinking experiences through the exploration of computer science as a collaborative and engaging discipline. Students will learn about computing systems, algorithms and programming, impacts of computing, and digital citizenship while developing strong practices and character in a digital world. Each month we will be sharing resources with you, our Bay Harbor parents and guardians. Our hope is that these resources assist you in raising children in the Digital Age. We highly recommend accessing the parent resources found on the Common Sense Media website and scroll to “Parents Need to Know.” A great resource to check out relating to our current unit on Digital Citizenship is on Privacy and Online Safety. Please feel free to reach out to Kara Bunkelman ([email protected]) or Kim DeTennis ([email protected]) with any questions regarding Innovation.
