CREATION DAYS
I want to make you aware of three Fridays (10/6, 2/2, 4/27) during the school year when there is no school for students but staff will be taking part in Leading Their Learning through “Creation Days”. During these days, staff will have the opportunity to truly lead their learning which may include: attending PD sessions, Delivering PD sessions, Working with other groups of teachers (from any school), etc. with the main goal of re-designing learning opportunities for students. Our main goal continues to focus on personalizing learning for students!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
The dates for our conferences (10/19, 10/24, 10/26) are fast approaching. On-line conference sign-up (TEESO) will begin on October 9th and will end on the 17th. A reminder (phone and email with direct links) will be sent out on the 8th to let you know that you can sign-up.
In conjunction with our conferences is our ever popular Scholastic Book Fair! Be sure to check it out in our new library space before or after your conferences.
Golden Apple Award Nominations
This week, a representative from the Partners In Education (Brown County Chamber of Commerce) came to our classrooms to tell students about the Golden Apple process and to thank our teachers with chocolate. If you would like to nominate an educator you can do so on-line <CLICK HERE>. The new form is quick and easy to fill out, so please think about nominating one of our awesome educators. All forms are due by October 27th.

Encourage Your Child to Read!
***Short Window to Order READ T-Shirt***
***Short Window to Order READ T-Shirt***
Research has shown that reading 20 minutes per day, every day has a dramatic effect on children's language development, as well as success. At Bay Harbor we have a READ initiative. This READ initiative is a HUGE part of the learning community at Bay Harbor.
Our teachers work closely with your child to help them understand the importance of reading each night. Students meeting their grade level goal and turning in their completed calendar will receive an incentive each month. In addition to reading at home every month, on or around the 20th we have a school wide READ 20. All students, teachers, and staff come together as a community and read for 20 minutes.
On the day of our school-wide READ, we were our READ 20 t-shirts.
To order a READ 20 t-shirt, please click here. Click on the Bay Harbor Elementary icon and then the READ 20 icon. ORDERS NEED TO BE SUBMITTED BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6TH. Call Genny Rickert at 662-8803 if you have any questions

Please make sure all sheets have the teacher’s name and grade level filled out so the correct classroom gets credit. Note: Box Tops that are expired or missing the product code will not count. Bonus Box Tops should be sent in separately and not attached to the collection sheets. Have more than 10 Box Tops or want to get started right away? - then print off this sheet - click here. Or, go to the Box Tops 4 Education website by clicking here for lots of other fun collection sheets that can be used all year long. This website has a lot of great information about earning extra cash for our school and valuable coupons. Box Tops can also be placed in a baggie/envelope labeled with child's teacher and grade level. Thank You! Dawn Brandt, Parent Volunteer November is National Homeless Awareness month.
The number of homeless children in the Howard-Suamico School District is on the rise as well as the numbers across the state. Michelle Dahlke, HSSD Homeless Coordinator and The Giving Tree, are doing a fundraiser by selling t-shirts for all staff, students, and families to purchase and wear every Wednesday in November. All proceeds from the t-shirts will go directly to helping all the homeless kids we have identified in the Howard-Suamico School District, which has doubled from last school year. Our goal is to make sure all the kids identified as homeless will not have any barriers to learning/extracurricular activities, so supplying them with clothes, school supplies, food, hygiene items, athletic fees, etc. is very important. Click here for the link to purchase a shirt. The deadline to order is October 10th. Thank you for your support in helping our own students. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Michelle Dahlke at 920-662-7260 or [email protected]. Brown County Public Health is holding a Flu (Influenza) Vaccine Clinic for children on:
