Dear Bay Harbor Families,
As another school year comes to a close, I am eager to introduce myself as the new Principal of Bay Harbor Elementary School. My name is Tony Ebeling and together I am excited to begin this educational journey with you. Last week, Mr. LaCroix sent out communication regarding my hire and my goals as the new leader of Bay Harbor. I want to now take this opportunity for you to learn more about me personally so we can begin our partnership on behalf of this school and kids.
I was born and raised in the small town of Norway, Michigan. My family owned the local supermarket, so at an early age I learned the importance of building strong relationships with people in the community. After high school I took my academic and athletic career to Northern Michigan University where I majored in Elementary Education with Minors in Language Arts and Social Studies. During my time at NMU I was captain of the football team and enjoyed learning the many disciplines of college athletics. Upon graduation I moved to Green Bay to play for the newly formed Green Bay Blizzard arena football team. This decision ended up being the springboard to so many great things that happened in my life!
My teaching career began ten years ago at MacArthur Elementary School in Green Bay where I taught 4th and 5th grade. During this time I received a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and was blessed to be hired as the Associate Principal at Lineville Intermediate School. Over the past three years at Lineville, I grew myself as a leader and was involved in making changes which positively affected the students, staff and families at my school and the district as a whole. During this time I also realized the strength of the Howard-Suamico School District and the families in this community. It is truly a special place to be!
My family is very important to me and makes me the person I am. My wife Heather, daughter Carly and son Cash have been extremely supportive through this process and are eager for this new beginning. My daughter Carly is 5 and will be starting Kindergarten next year. My son Cash will be turning 4 in July and enjoys learning new things from his big sister. My family and I are not only thrilled to be part of the Bay Harbor Sailor learning community, but also as soon-to-be residents of Howard-Suamico. We are all very excited for these new adventures in our lives.
As I transition into this new role, I want you know that my core belief is that you have to get to a student’s heart before you get to their head. Everything we do at Bay Harbor will be based around that theory, coupled with high academic and behavioral standards. I will be spending a lot of quality time at Bay Harbor focusing on building relationships and seeing the school in action. I will send out periodic communications to keep you up-to-date on things. I thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and family. Together, we will continue the many successes at Bay Harbor and ensure that our students have the knowledge and skills to succeed in a changing world!
