Veterans Day Project
In celebration of Veteran's Day, the first graders are putting together their annual American Flag near the front office. This is a small but great way to celebrate and honor some of our Bay Harbor friends and families. Please be on the lookout for a small heart or star with a note attached. Your job is to write the name of a friend or family member (or members) that have served or are serving our country. Please cut out the heart or star and return it to your child’s teacher so that the first graders can create the unique American Flag. When you visit, be sure to check out the flag once it is displayed near the main entrance of our school. Order a Student Directory
The Bay Harbor Student Directory is now published! The directory is your source for contact information of classmates and friends at Bay Harbor and for networking with other Bay Harbor families. If you would like to order one, you can click here to order and pay on line, or click here to print off the form to return to the office with your payment of $2.00 (make checks payable to Bay Harbor). The directories will be sent home with students. All proceeds from the sale of the directories go to our Student Leadership Council. Thank you! ...To Katrina Severance for organizing the meals on both nights of the parent/teacher conferences. Thank you also to everyone who brought in food for the meals. They were delicious and very much appreciated! Also, thank you to Bob Watts and Toby Brosteau for organizing and running the Book Fair during the parent/teacher conferences! Awesome job! New!

September was Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and October continues to recognize adults battling the disease. In second grade, we have learned about communities, and how to be positive role models and contributing members of our family, school, and neighborhood. In an effort to do something for others, and to make a difference in our community, we decided to align forces with Bellin nursing students affiliated with the Love Your Melon (LYM) organization, and Colton’s Cure foundation to make superhero capes for individuals fighting cancer. It turned out to be a huge success! The capes are being donated to LYM to be distributed to patients still in the hospital. We hope to make this event a yearly tradition as it brings a lot of joy to all those involved. Check out the photos below of the students making the capes... ON LINE FORMS For your convenience, below are links to some frequently used forms that you can print off at home, complete, and return to school if the need ever arises. MEDICATION FORMS
PLANNED ABSENCE FORM All absences from school, not related to an illness, injury or family emergency, must be requested in writing at least 48 hours in advance in order for the absence to be excused (family vacation for example). Please complete the Advance Absence Notice for this purpose and return to school. This form will be routed to the student’s teachers for approval signatures. Speak Up Research Project Survey
The Speak Up Research Project polls K-12 students, parents and educators about the role of technology for learning in and out of school and represents the largest collection of authentic, unfiltered stakeholder voice on digital learning. It is important that the Howard - Suamico School District students, parents, staff and community participate to assist our district in acquiring information for future planning needs. The Speak Up 2017 online surveys open October 16, 2017 through January 19, 2018. Please read more at Speak Up 2017 Flyer. Teamwork (noun) – the combined action of a group of people, especially when effective and efficient. At the Howard Suamico School District, teamwork is demonstrated in many different ways. Our students participate in teamwork with athletics, music, theatre, and especially academics. Our students work together as a group, to learn, grow, and share. Teamwork is showing at Bay Harbor Elementary, where the students are preparing for the annual Fall Fest Fundraiser; Suamico Elementary is displaying teamwork at their Buddy Bench during recess; and Howard Elementary is showing their teamwork with Popcorn Fridays. Our Board of Education and administrators use teamwork to drive our mission forward. Currently, we are engaged with a Community Task Force, teaming community members with district administrators to better understand our district needs and opportunities. The goal of the Community Task Force is to make a recommendation for the Board of Education to consider. As we see every day in the Howard Suamico School District, with teamwork we can accomplish anything. If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your team member listed below. |
