Our 3rd Annual Family Fun Event, the Holiday Shoppe, is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for this fun event for you and your children. Our PTO would like to invite all Bay Harbor students and siblings to come holiday shopping at our 3rd Annual Holiday Shoppe right in our very own school gymnasium! The Holiday Shoppe will be open 2 DAYS for your convenience this year. Friday, November 14 from 6-8pm AND Saturday, November 15 from 9am-noon. Next week money envelopes will be sent home in the Wednesday Take Home Envelopes that will allow the parents to list all the people you want your children to shop for and set a "budget" of what they can spend per person. They can even shop for YOUR presents with our very own "personal shoppers" that will take them through the Holiday Shoppe while you sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and a baked good in our very own Bake Shop! The cost of the gifts will range from $.25 to $10.00 and there are gifts for all family members, even your pets! We really hope you can join us for holiday shopping either that Friday or Saturday. Thank you in advance for supporting your PTO. If you have any questions or would like to help with this event, please contact Sandi Beaver at 920-217-8296 or [email protected]. Happy Holidays! Holiday Shoppe- Looking for Volunteers!
The Family Fun Committee is looking for parent and teen volunteers for the holiday shop. The shop runs Friday, Nov 14 from 6:00-8:00 PM and Saturday, Nov 15 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. We also need help with set up during the afternoon of Friday, Nov 14, which is an early release day. Last, we are in need of breakfast bakery items for the café on Nov 15. If you are interested, please contact Chris Lammers at 920-810-4062 or [email protected]. Thanks in advance! Vision Screening Coming!
The Vision Screening will occur on Thursday, November 13, 2014. All Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and any students requested by teachers and parents/guardians will be tested. Vision screening routinely tests stereopsis (how your child’s eyes work together) up to age 10 and distance vision. If your child already wears glasses, they will be tested with their glasses on to make sure the glasses are working properly. Near vision and color vision can be tested upon request only. The screening does detect several eye problems common to these age groups. However, it is not a substitute for a complete professional eye exam. A child who passes may still have other visual problems. If symptoms such as squinting, headaches, frowning, or frequent blinking are noted, a complete eye exam is recommended. Red, swollen or encrusted eyelids indicate a medical problem requiring a physician’s treatment. If your child does not pass the screening, a letter will be sent home recommending an examination by an eye doctor. The National Society to Prevent Blindness recommends that children have a professional eye exam prior to entering school and up to every other year after that. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you DO NOT want your child screened for hearing and/or vision YOU MUST contact your child’s school at least one week prior to the screening date to have your child removed from the screening list. Notes from the Nurse - click here. This link has health information for parents, students and staff Reminder on Head Lice: any student known to have lice should have a follow up head check done upon returning to school. With close contact comes the increased chance of spreading head lice. Please help us by taking initiative on checking your child’s hair closely at home if you notice your child scratching their head or suspect head lice. Here is a link to more information on head lice as well as prevention and treatment methods. http://nasn.org/portals/0/resources/LL_101_parents_2.pdf Hilary Wied, RN Dress for the Weather - Cold, Snowy Weather will be here soon!
In order to prevent students from having wet shoes and cold feet, students will be required to wear boots during recess beginning with the first snowfall of the year. Students will need to wear their snow pants in order to play in the snow on the playground. As a rule, students go outside daily when the temperature, factoring in the wind chill, is above zero degrees. We want students to stay healthy so they can do their best in school. Identify your child's winter wear – As a reminder, PLEASE write your child’s name inside their snow pants, boots, jackets and hats. Do you know how many pairs of black snow pants and boots there are? This helps lost articles of clothing find their rightful owner. Community Events Calendar
