Message from the Principal
Sailor Families, It’s beginning to look a lot like WINTER! We are staying warm at BH by engaging our brains and empowering our learners. The below information is both timely and important. Friday, November 8th PD Day I would like to take a brief opportunity to provide you insight on what we do on these very important teacher PD days. Without intense collaboration time, we will not be able to be who we want to be at BH and do what we want to do at BH for the benefit of our kids. We began the day together in the library with some inspiration from our Superintendent, Damian LaCroix. Following that we worked on designing instruction that is Authentic, Innovative, Connected and Inspired (Our district and school vision)! After that invigorating work...and some coffee… we broke up into two groups: Literacy Focus, Leadership (7 Habits- Habit 1 Be Proactive) Focus. Again, these days are meant to specifically support our SIP (School Improvement Plan) as well as to move our District Vision forward. Fall Fest Our Fall Fest is THIS SATURDAY from 11-3! I am very excited for this fun family event. At our PTO meeting last night, information was shared about all the awesome things that will be happening on Saturday. Be sure to come on out and have some fun and support BH! If you have the time and would like to help, please use the link below to sign up for a spot. Your partnership is appreciated. Sign up here: Bay Harbor Fall Fest Volunteer Sign Up Report Card This Friday at 6:00pm you will receive a message from me letting you know that report cards are ready to view in your Parent Portal. My hope is that you are feeling informed on the progress of your child through the use of Seesaw, conversations, parent-teacher conferences, etc. If you feel like you need more information at any time, please reach out to the teacher more sooner than later. Remember, learning is a partnership and a journey. Enjoy the snow and all the little things that life presents, Tony Ebeling, Principal |

Attention Families of 3rd and 4th Grade Students!
At Bay Harbor, building leadership and social/emotional awareness is an important on-going goal. As part of these activities, later this month, students will be completing an online questionnaire that encourages them to reflect on their own mindsets and approaches to learning. It is our goal to help students and teachers learn more about themselves and how they learn best by completing this process.
If you have questions, please contact Becky Wright, School Counselor, at 920-662-8805. Thank you for your ongoing support of your student(s) and of our school.

Volunteers Needed for our School Store!
Dear Bay Harbor Families,
Student Leadership Council is once again having a School Store. While we will be having some of our students help at School Store this year, we are not able to run a successful school store without some help from our amazing adult volunteers. Our school store will be on the first Friday of every month. We would like to enlist 4-5 parent volunteers to help out from 10:30 – 12:30. Students will shop before their recess and the first recess starts at 10:45. Responsibilities included in helping out are: set-up, selling and assisting students with their purchases, making change and closing-up. If you are interested in helping out, please CLICK HERE to print and complete the form and return it to school by Friday, November 26th.
Please consider supporting the Student Leadership Council by volunteering to help with the school store.
Thank you,

From your School Board
October 2019 2019-2020 Howard-Suamico School District Budget During our annual meeting last month, community members received a detailed review of the school district’s 2019-2020 budget and voted to adopt it as presented. During the meeting on October 21, the Board of Education approved a total tax levy of $28,248,522, which supports a district budget of $87,410,185 – a decrease of 2.17% as compared to the previous year. This levy will result in the school’s portion of our property taxes remaining stable at $9.19; significantly below the state’s average levy. This budget, just as in year’s past, establishes that we continue to value innovation, investing in our staff, driving academic performance for every student. Board members have engaged in continuous legislative advocacy efforts, specifically pertaining to the State’s biennium budget, which positively impacted the students of the Howard-Suamico School District. The low revenue ceiling increase - a main focus of the Board’s advocacy efforts - especially for a low-spending district like ours, made a tangible impact. For the first time in over a decade, our District will see a net increase in our overall revenue limit. Our overall revenue limit has increased by just over $2,000,000. This is due to an adjustment to $9,700 per pupil for the lowest spending districts across the State coupled with our District’s first increase in resident students in over 5 years. For more information about the Howard-Suamico School District budget please visit our website at www.hssdschools.org, or for additional information regarding this article, contact school board member Vanessa Moran at (920) 246-3999 or [email protected] If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your Board member located in this article.
