A message from Mr. Ebeling,
Hello Sailor Families,
Tomorrow we are kicking off our very successful third annual Reading Rewards program at Bay Harbor! Similar to last year, your student will be bringing home a parent letter and Reading Rewards packet in their take home folders. Participation in this program allows our school to “purchase” current event informational reading materials for every student such as Scholastic News and Time for Kids as well as other informational texts to support classroom literacy. Last year, each classroom was given $250 for these materials because of your AWESOME participation. Without doing this, our school budget would take a large hit, so your support in this optional opportunity is important. The best thing is that there is truly NO PURCHASE necessary! Just fill out the booklets with 7-10 names and addresses. These names and addresses WILL NOT be used for anything other than getting sent a postcard from your child.
So, please take a minute to read over the materials that will be sent home tomorrow. Students can turn in completed postcard booklets and family magazine orders right away! Families can also buy or re-new magazine subscriptions through this. If you do so, our school will receive EXTRA credit for subscriptions ordered. All materials are due by Thursday, March 17, 2016.
For students who participate by turning in the postcard booklet, they will be receiving a lanyard and a Garfield. Additional Garfield's will be given for each family magazine ordered. As you already know, the kids LOVE these little trinkets:)
CLICK HERE for the parent letter that will come home with the materials on Thursday.
Thank you for your continued partnership,
Tony Ebeling, Principal

By Madeline Thoreson, 4th Grader at Bay Harbor Elementary School Why is it important to have music in elementary schools? I’ll tell you why. At home, some kids don’t have the most supportive families. In music, they have the opportunity to express their feelings through instruments, singing, and dance. It is an environment where you can break free and let it all out. Or maybe you have had a really crazy week; music can help you feel calm and can help you find comfort. Do you know who helps you with this process? Wonderful music teachers! They all help guide students through their elementary school years. The point is, music is an amazing skill that helps students in a variety of ways! Green Bay Gamblers, "School is Cool" Game!

We are in need of more pants for our health room. At this time of year when the snow is melting, our playground and grounds can be pretty wet. Once in awhile a student falls at recess, gets wet and needs a change of clothes. If you have any that you can donate (especially elastic waist pants) we would really appreciate it! Thank you! Changes to the "Labels for Education" Collection Program - read below...
After 42 years, Campbell’s Labels for Education is discontinuing the program at the end of this school year. Some of you may have noticed already that some of the products (Pepperidge Farm Goldfish & Spaghettios for instance) no longer have the Labels for Education logo around the UPCs. You can continue to send in labels until the end of the school year. We have used this program to purchase playground balls and sidewalk chalk for recess so I will be placing our final order in June.
