Penny Wars! - Coming Next Week!
May 16th - May 20th.
Proceeds will help send all Bay Harbor students to SAGA Gymnastics!
Bay Harbor’s Annual Penny Wars are back! Next week, May 16th - 20th, "Penny Wars" will take place between the grade levels. There will be a jar for each grade level set up in the hallway each morning for students to put coins into. Pennies count as positive points towards the total in each jar and silver coins and dollar bills act as negative points towards the total in each jar. The grade level that has the highest total at the end of the week will receive a special treat! All other grade levels will receive something as well for participating. So bring your pennies in to put into your grade level jar and bring in silver coins and dollars to put into other grade level jars. The money raised will go towards sending all students to SAGA on June 6th and 7th. So, start checking under those couch cushions and bring in your pennies the week of May 16th-May 20th! Thank you!

Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be a Leader! Congratulations to our "Sailor Pride Ticket" winners this week! Jessica, Haillie, Julia, Dylan, Riley, Stella, Ali, James and Grace Safety and Protective Behaviors have been a huge part of our discussions in Lifeskills class for the last couple of months. With summer right around the corner, it is so critical to review basic safety with your children. Students did an awesome job helping each other remember various aspects of water, fire, bike, stranger, and home safety. We also reviewed the “Swimsuit Rule” which focuses on the fact that our bodies belong to us and no one should ever make us feel uncomfortable, sad, or scared in any way related to our bodies, with the exception of trusted adults helping us stay clean and healthy, like doctors and parents. I also found out that many students did not know their home address or a phone number to reach a parent, so that is another very important thing to discuss at home in the event of an emergency. The motto learned was, “Check first before you go anywhere with anyone, and if you can’t check first, the answer is no!” If you have any questions, concerns, or needs over the summer months, please feel free to reach out to me through email at [email protected]. Enjoy the sunny, warm days ahead! "School Kidz" School Supply Kits
Order forms for these kits were sent home last week in the Take Home Envelopes "School Kidz" school supply kits contain all of the school supplies requested by our teachers for each grade level. They are packed in a nice box like the one shown and will be shipped to our school in mid August. Take advantage of this easy and convenient opportunity. Summers are short and busy for everyone and you can cross one thing off of your "to do" list this summer. Parents who have purchased these kits in previous years have commented on how much they love them and how they save them time and gas! They look forward to ordering them every year. Order forms are due back to the office by Wednesday, May 25th. If you have any questions, please call Sally in the office at 662-8802. Popsicle Sale to benefit JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
This Friday, May 13th we will be selling popsicles for a dollar in honor of Allie Brosteau in support of JDRF. Allie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 5 years ago and has been a student at Bay Harbor since Kindergarten. All proceeds will be donated to JDRF on behalf of Allie! The winning classroom will be announced the following week. Note: Box Tops that are expired or missing the product code will not count. Bonus Box Tops should be sent in separately and not attached to the collection sheets. Have more than 10 box tops? Additional sheets are available to print - click here. Volunteers are still Needed to Help! Another form to sign up to volunteer will be in Today's Take Home Envelopes. Calling all Bay Harbor Families, WE NEED YOUR HELP! We are looking for more volunteers to help us with the Field Day activities for 1-2 hours on Friday, June 3rd. We are looking for people to assist with lunch, games, and distribute the end of the day treat between 10:45 AM and 2:30 PM. If you are not familiar with Field Day, it is an afternoon long event, running from lunch time until the end of the day. The students have a picnic lunch, head over to Idlewild Park for various games and finish the day off with a cool treat. This is a SUPER FUN end-of-the-school year event for ALL students, but it takes many volunteers to make this day a success! If you are interested (and even if you can’t commit to an entire hour), please contact Rich Glen at [email protected], or you can also click here to print the form to complete and return to school. Thank you! Changes to Contact Information???
Please contact the school office at 662-8800 when an address, phone number, email address or other contact information changes. It is important to keep student records accurate in case of an emergency situation. It also ensures accurate communication between school and home. Planning a Move?
Please notify the school office (662-8800) as soon as possible if your child will be transferring out of Bay Harbor or the district. ................................................
