A Message from the Principal
Dear Bay Harbor Families,
Can you believe that the first quarter of the year is already over? Report cards will be coming out on Friday. You will receive a Connect-ed message (Phone and e-mail) at 6:00pm stating that “Report Cards are Ready to Review”. Direct links to PowerSchool and Curriculum Standards will be provided in this information. Please be sure you have your PowerSchool logins and passwords ready. If you can’t remember your information, you can click the “Having trouble signing in” link and an email with your information will be sent right to you. If you still have trouble, please contact our office at 662-8800.
With the increase in accountability (State Report Cards), ramping up of curriculum (Common Core State Standards) and the deeper integration of technology into learning (Digital Transformation), the state of education is changing. What is not changing is the dedication our staff has towards doing what is best for kids. It is observed daily that our students are rising to the challenges and are embracing the change. Our learners will be better learners for the work we are doing. No longer is it just acceptable to “memorize” facts. It is now imperative that our students build a deeper understanding of the material, while learning to work collaboratively with others on a rigorous outcome that they create.
If at any point you have questions regarding learning, please contact us (teacher, principal, counselor, etc.) as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued partnership!
Go Pirates!

With the winter season upon us, click here for more information to help you be prepared in case of school closings due to weather. Students should dress for cold and snowy weather
In order to prevent students from having wet shoes and cold feet, students will be required to wear boots during recess beginning with the first snowfall of the year. Students will need to wear their snow pants in order to play in the snow on the playground. As a rule, students go outside daily when the temperature, factoring in the wind chill, is above zero degrees. We want students to stay healthy so they can do their best in school. Identify your child's winter wear – As a reminder, PLEASE write your child’s name inside their snow pants, boots, jackets and hats. Do you know how many pairs of black snow pants and boots there are? This helps lost articles of clothing find their rightful owner. A note about mittens: Please have your child wear waterproof gloves or mittens once it snows. The knitted kind get wet when the kids play in the snow and then their hands get cold!
Notes from the Nurse - click here. This link has health information for parents, students and staff Reminder on Head Lice: any student known to have lice should have a follow up head check done upon returning to school. With close contact comes the increased chance of spreading head lice. Please help us by taking initiative on checking your child’s hair closely at home if you notice your child scratching their head or suspect head lice. Here is a link to more information on head lice as well as prevention and treatment methods. http://nasn.org/portals/0/resources/LL_101_parents_2.pdf Hilary Wied, RN Community Events Calendar
