Message from the Principal:
Dear Bay Harbor Families,
Last year our school began a school-wide behavior program which adopted many of the concepts from a program called PBIS, (Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support). Our goal was to create a climate and culture at our school that focuses on three primary rules. Be Safe…Be Respectful…Be Responsible. Based upon these 3 rules, we further defined what that would look like in our hallways, lunchroom, recess, and in the classroom.
Our staff has been very committed to helping students achieve their very best and we take great pride in recognizing their positive choices on a weekly basis at a student assembly. At the assembly we award a Golden Tray (*Best lunch behaviors), Golden Ball (*Best Recess behaviors), and a Golden Ticket winner for being recognized by other classrooms.
This year we are implementing an additional component that will help students take responsibility in the classroom by monitoring progress of students on a consistent basis using the chart shown. This chart will be utilized school wide this year and may also be combined with incentive based programs that teachers are already utilizing.
Our goal is to acknowledge the hard work of our students as they make good choices and also help them set goals when behaviors need improvement. We look forward to a using this consistent format to ensure that all students are working to Be Safe… Be Respectful… and to Be Responsible. Thank you for your continued support.
