A Message from Mr. Ebeling
Good afternoon Sailor families,
It is great being back to school and seeing the wonderful things going on everyday! This is the time of year where we reassess students in areas to be able to track growth and further plan for instruction. It is also the time of year where we reteach positive behavior expectations and celebrate achievements. Below, you will find an explanation of some of the things going on at BH.
Sailor Pride Tickets:
Sailor pride tickets are given to individual students showing leadership above and beyond the general expectations. When receiving a sailor pride ticket the student gets to "clip up" and also brings the ticket to the office for a chance at being chosen during our weekly drawings. If chosen, students get to pick from a menu of rewards that include things such as: use principal's chair for a day, pajama day, make a announcement, technology lesson of choice, etc.
Golden Ticket, Golden Ball, Golden Tray:
A golden ticket is given to a class who is "doing the right thing" and following expectations beyond the norm. Each classroom keeps track and is acknowledged at the 5, 15, and 25 ticket mark.
The Golden Ball and Golden tray are also based on a point system and a growth model where each class's points are kept track and acknowledged when hit certain levels. We are focusing on four areas: Be safe, be respectful, be responsible- BE A LEADER!
What gets talked about gets done...so we are talking and focusing on being AWESOME at BH!
Thank you for reading and for your continued partnership,
Tony Ebeling, Principal

Box Tops Winter Contest Keep turning in those sheets that were sent home last week for our Box Tops contest. The classroom that collects the most Box Tops will win a movie/popcorn party. Glue or tape 10 unexpired Box Tops onto the flyer to participate in the contest. Contest deadline is February 12, 2016. The winning classroom will be announced the following week. Note: Box Tops that are expired or missing the product code will not count. Bonus Box Tops should be sent in separately and not attached to the collection sheets. Have more than 10 box tops? Additional sheets are available to print - click here. Box Tops can also be placed in a baggie/envelope labeled with child's name, grade, and teacher. Thank You! Dawn Brandt Label Your Child's Outerwear!
Please remember to put your child's name on their snow pants, coats, hats, boots, gloves and mittens. Do you know how many black snow pants there are? This will help us to locate the rightful owner of any lost clothing. A note about mittens/gloves: Please have your child wear waterproof gloves or mittens once it snows. The knitted kind gets wet when the kids play in the snow and then their hands get very cold! Thank you! Fun at Recess
At recess one day last week, students took advantage of the snow and made a snowman... something they had waited a long time to do! EMERGENCY CLOSINGS AND DELAYS
Inclement weather may necessitate the closing or delay of schools. If schools are closed this will also include the cancellation of extracurricular activities and the events in the community pool unless otherwise announced. Please listen to local radio or television stations for school closings or delays. Such weather may also deter students from going outside during the school day. Please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. In addition to local radio and television, weather conditions can be checked on-line at www.hssd.k12.wi.us. Click on the Wunderground link for local weather conditions and forecasts. ................................................
