Hello! Our assessment day took place on Monday. Students rotated through 8 engaging stations while teachers worked with individual students to gather learning information. Two stations focused on Safety, with specific teaching to the kids the “ALICE” strategies at a developmental and age appropriate level. We reviewed what we do during a fire drill and how there may be other situations we need to leave the school. We reviewed the numerous exits in the school and talkd through some “If-Then” scenarios. We ended by ensuring all kids know our “Safe Meeting Point” in the event we did need to leave the school...ask your child where that is. The kids did a wonderful job during these stations and enjoyed their day.
As a reminder, beginning THIS MONDAY, students will need to enter the school and go to their classroom independently. I hope that you have had adequate time to help transition your student as needed. My continued promise to you is that as soon as they enter the school doors, we care for them as if they were our own. If you need to go down to the classroom for any reason, please stop in the office, sign in, and the teacher will be contacted. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me directly.
Continue to work on building good after school habits. Make sure students clean out their back packs to ensure all materials get completed and communicated to you. Students should continue to build their stamina by reading at least 20 minutes a night in addition to working on other skills as necessary. By building these good habits early, it becomes “Just what we do”, rather than a “Do I have to?”.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Meet Jessica Van Epps, our new Art Teacher! Hello! I am the new art teacher at Bay Harbor and Suamico Elementary Schools this year. My passion is teaching and learning, and my second is art. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from UW-Stevens Point and graduated in January from UW-Green Bay with my Education License. Over the last semester I had the opportunity to long term sub in the district and grew to love the community and the values that the district holds. So, it is a wonderful surprise that I was chosen to teach in such a wonderful community that I’ve already fallen in love with! In my spare time, I love to create my own artwork, taking our 1 year old daughter on mini-adventures around the greater Green Bay area, and enjoying the outdoors while the weather is warm.
A Message for all students from the Art Teacher...
