A Message from Mr. Ebeling,
Sailor Families,
It really seems cliche to say, “I don’t count the days, I make the days count!”....but it’s true...UNTIL THE DAY BEFORE THE END OF SCHOOL and you realize that a large group of students that you have watched grow and transform are about to leave you and move on to their next journey, Lineville! We will miss our 4th graders for sure, but we know they are ready to do great things and expand their positivity and influence to others. Once a Sailor, always a Sailor!
Thank you, Bay Harbor families, for another wonderful year! In a digital world, it seems like though we are more “connected”, the more disconnected we can be. Please know that your assistance and support continues to be greatly needed and appreciated now more than ever. Research support that the more involved a family is in their child’s education, the better he/she will do!
Retirement
Mrs. Janet Hughes, our literacy coach, is retiring after many years of HSSD service! We really appreciated the work she did to team with teachers and work to improve literacy practices.
Staffing Changes
Change is continuous and each year moves happen to ensure people’s strengths and passions are maximized to best meet the needs of our learners. Please see the below changes to staffing for the 2017-2018 school year:
●Kirstin Gerczak will be moving from special education at Bay Harbor, to run the Intellectual Disability program at Lineville.
●Kristen Possley will be joining our special education team. She is coming from Lineville.
●Miranda Zygiel will be joining our 3rd grade team from 2nd grade.
●Christine Utrie will be moving from 2nd to 1st.
●Ann VanEgeren will be moving back to 3rd grade from 4th.
●Melissa Pieschek will be leaving Bay Harbor and will be staying home with her children and also caring for other BH staff children:)
Next year will already be my 5th year at Bay Harbor! Time sure flies! It has been an amazing trip so far and I look forward to continuing to make this school the best around! It’s also the 10th anniversary of the opening of Bay Harbor. We will be doing some things at the beginning of the year to celebrate that. In addition, over the summer we hope to have our new furniture from KI into our transformed “library” space. We will be working to change that space into a “Innovation Studio” where classes can come together in a large space, collaborate, and explore learning possibilites. Thank you to the BH PTO for the $20,000 grant!
In early August, you will receive notification of your child’s teacher and information to sign-up for the 30 minute summer literacy reading time with that teacher.
Have a wonderful and safe summer, everyone!
