A Message from Mr. Ebeling,
Bay Harbor Sailor Families,
Great Start!
In my seventh year as Bay Harbor Principal, it is my biggest pleasure to be able to see all of the planning and preparation that goes into a new year be kicked off and the positive impact it has on kids and families. I am truly blessed to be in this position at this school and surrounded by wonderful people. It’s exciting to see a group of students move from K through 4th and all the changes that occur! What I can say from that is, “DON’T FRET!” Students develop at different times and every week changes for them. I am always amazed at what these students become by the time they are in 4th grade.
Beginning of the year
It’s all about relationships! In the beginning of the year there is a heavy emphasis on building a strong classroom learning environment. We are like a family at BH and when kids feel safe and comfortable, they are more likely to be excited for school and learn. The motto is: “You need to get to a child’s heart before you get to their head!” So, we start “slow” to move fast.
Leadership Habits
Our 7 Habits of leadership is a key focus of who we are and what we do at Bay Harbor. The kids really understand the habits and will be working hard to practice them and live them so that it truly becomes...A HABIT! What I really like about this as a focus is that it is a life skill and not just an elementary skill. *To read more about the 7 Habits, CLICK HERE. Watch for continued information on our 7 Habits!
Morning Drop Off / Afternoon Pick-up:
Students may enter the building as early as 8:15 if they are having breakfast, or 8:25 when the first bell rings and students are able to go to the classrooms. School officially begins at 8:35. PLEASE be sure to not bring kids to school earlier than this as we do not provide supervision until the above times. The end of the day bell rings at 3:30.
NEW!!! Beginning Monday, September 16th, parents will not be able to walk students down to the classrooms. Already, many parents only walk their child as far as the lobby (just through the second set of doors), but that will be as far as you can go per our safety guidelines. If the need arises to enter the building further, please be sure to stop into the office and go through the visitor check-in process.
If at any point you are coming into the building with or without your child, please be sure to park your car in a marked parking spot. We cannot leave vehicles unattended in the front of the school...even for a short time. All students need to enter and leave the school through the MAIN DOORS ONLY. Lastly, when dropping off, PLEASE BE SURE THAT KIDS LEAVE OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE and onto the sidewalk. Safety is top priority. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Raptor:
The Raptor visitor management system was put into place this year as another safety measure during our learning day. As a reminder, if you are a visitor to our building, you must present an ID to our office staff, so please be prepared to do so. You will be given a badge to wear that will have your picture on it and your destination. Visitors will be escorted to the destination as well. All visitors must leave through the office and leave your badge with the office staff.
Partnership
My sign-off is often, “Thank you for your partnership” or “Together is Better”. I say that repetitively because unless we are a team, our students will not be able to be the best they can be. Parent+Student+Teacher+School= Success. Our PTO is a great way to be involved at any level you would like to be. I want to say THANK YOU to our wonderful PTO for providing BH with so many things that we would not be able to have or do with our regular school budget. Their trust and partnership is appreciated. Our meeting on Tuesday night was fantastic! Please be on the lookout for information regarding our upcoming Fall Fest.
Thank you for your trust and partnership,
Tony Ebeling, Principal

At Bay Harbor Elementary School we have a READ initiative. This read initiative is a HUGE part of the learning community at Bay Harbor Elementary.
