A Message from Mr. Ebeling,
Sailor Families,
We are coming off of a very busy week here at Bay Harbor Elementary School: Conferences, Book Fair and Fall Fest. WOW! Being able to see so many happy families moving about the school is pretty cool to see and continues to make our school a very special place for ALL.
End of The Quarter
The end of the quarter was last Friday and report cards will come out this Friday. A message will be sent to you at 6:00 as the report cards go live. Report cards are not the same as they were a while back. Parents are now able to be so much more informed about their student’s learning because of technology and more frequent communication. At some point soon I see our “quarterly” report cards going away and an even better way of measuring and communicating to take its place. For now, our report card will look the same. Remember, all standards are written with the goal that by the end of the year the student will be able to attain mastery of that standard. Some standards lend themselves to being more important than others as students transition from grade to grade. Be sure to continue to be a partner in their education and all will be well:)
Fall Fest
Another very successful Fall Fest took place this past Saturday! Thank you to Leslie Frank who has mastered the art of Fall Festing and to all of the other volunteers who make this day possible. Thank you also to all of you for your donations and other supports along the way. We are definitely better together.
Cold Weather
We went from Summer to Winter without warning. PLEASE be sure to check that your child has hats, gloves, jackets, snow pants, boots for recess time! There are a lot of kids “missing” items each day and it is taking a lot of staff time to try to help find them the right fitting gear. If at any time your child is missing anything, please stop at school and check out our lost and found….it is growing out of control.
Next week is a short week. There is an 11:45am release on Wednesday as well no school on Thursday and Friday. Then, it’s one more week until December! Yikes!
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Tony Ebeling, Principal

Volunteers Needed for the School Store!
Dear Bay Harbor Families,
Student Leadership Council is once again having a School Store. While we will be having some of our students help at School Store this year, we are not able to run a successful school store without some help from our amazing adult volunteers. Our school store will be on the first Friday of every month (except for February because we don’t have school on the first Friday). We would like to enlist 4-5 parent volunteers to help out from 10:30 – 12:45. Students will shop before their recess and the first recess starts at 10:40. Responsibilities included in helping out are: set-up, selling and assisting students with their purchases, making change and closing-up. If you are interested in helping out, please CLICK HERE to print and complete the form and return it to school by Friday, November 30th.
Please consider supporting the Student Leadership Council by volunteering to help with the school store.
Thank you,
Mrs. Van Enkevort -Student Council Advisor
Mrs. Wright -Student Council Advisor

Minutes of the PTO Meetings:
PTO IS ON FACEBOOK and TWITTERBudget Season - From your School Board
During our annual meeting last month, community members received a detailed review of the school district’s 2018-19 budget and at the October 22, 2018 School Board Meeting, the Board of Education approved a levy of $26,570,826, which supports a district budget of $89,505,581 – an increase of 3.18% from the previous year. This levy will result in the school’s portion of our property taxes remaining stable at $9.19. In addition, the Board shared with community members the proposed purchase of 10 acres of land directly in front of Bay Port High School. After significant consultation with leaders in real estate, the community and local businesses, the district formed a plan to move forward with an offer. The source of funds for the purchase will come from two sources:
This acquisition represents the beginning of a long-term process in which the district is developing a “best-use” plan on leveraging this resource for future students. We hope the 2018-19 budget and this land purchase demonstrate to our community and students that we value their education today and well into the future.
