A Message from Mr. Ebeling,
Learning and Achieving, Together
Just like the weather recently, the learning process is truly a messy and unpredictable thing. There has been a shift in recent years from students being primarily ‘consumers’ of information to now ‘creators’. It is not okay to just be able to recite facts, you must be able to use that information to solve a problem that may not even be written out for you. If you reflect on your own daily work, very little of it consists of problems that have easy answers. For the most part, you are having to pull in multiple forms of information and figuring out how to put it together to best solve your problem. At Bay Harbor, we are trying to guide students through this shift in thinking we call, “Lead your Learning”! Students need to know what their strengths are and what they need to still work on. They need to be able to appropriately struggle through tasks to fully gain understanding and the ability to persevere. We want our students to have ownership in their learning by providing them with “choice”and “voice” into how they want to engage with the learning. We want our students to be leaders, to advocate for themselves, and to be learners who can adapt to change and ultimately, be successful! Sounds easy, right? I would like to just say that our staff is embracing this challenge and I appreciate their daily efforts...we truly have a wonderful school!
Thank you for being on this journey with us. My goal is to keep you more up-to-date on some of the transitions that are beginning to take place at Bay Harbor to help us achieve our vision and mission.
