A Message from the Principal,
Bay Harbor Sailor Families,
SNOW??? Many kids (and adults) were surprised to see the white stuff outside today. During our morning announcement I took the opportunity to remind them where we live and to expect: Sun, warmth, melting, raining, snow, mud, wind, etc. in March and April. I also reminded them to keep being prepared for the changing weather and to be outside for recess. As we roll into next week of school and then spring break, I wanted to just check in and provide you with some updates.
Cleaning and Sickness
By now you have received emails giving you updates about the Coronoviras. The district, as well as all other districts around us and in the state, are keeping up-to-date with trends and making sure we are doing what we need to do with the information we have. The deep cleaning of our classrooms and building has definitely increased. We continue to remind students of good habits in regards to washing hands and keeping hands out of their mouth, nose, eyes, etc. The flu definitely hit strong this year already. I know some of you are nervous about attendance and the 10 Day rule, but I can assure you that if you are keeping your child home because they are sick, and you call them in, that all will be well. The guideline is that students need to be fever free for at least 24 hours without medication before coming back to school. Though I know this can be difficult, it is a benefit to your child and all around them.
Interest Fair
On March 19th from 6:00-7:00 is our annual BH Interest Fair. We again have over 100 students participating and ready to show what they know about their passions. I fully know that this work also involves the parent support (been there, done that) and I appreciate it! The kids take so much pride in learning, presenting and showing off their work. It will be a great night!
Green Bay Blizzard (save the date)
We are excited to again partner with the Green Bay Blizzard arena football team to have a fantastically fun family fun night. Save the date for April 24th and look for more information to come right after spring break.
Digital Learning Days
We know we live in a digital world. During the school day we balance digital tools with non-digital tools and teaching strategies. We are definitely blessed to have the opportunity to access devices and other technology equipment in our school. As a reminder, “Digital Learning Days” communication has been sent out and is something we can easily do if there was an unexpected day off of school for any reason. Our teachers and students utilize Seesaw as a key tool for communication of learning activities already. We will continue to do activities to test the engagement with the digital learning tasks and are ready to go if the need arises.
Thank you for your continued partnership,
Mr. Ebeling, Principal

From your School Board
HSSD Graduate Profile: Collaborator Throughout the year, the Board of Education monitors student performance in HSSD Graduate Profile seven characteristics. At the December 9, 2019 Board meeting, we discussed the characteristic collaborator and progress being made to develop our students as helpful and active participants who share responsibility while working toward a common goal. Students have many opportunities to collaborate and be part of teams in classrooms, in music, physical education, and art, in athletics, and in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Through these experiences, they grow in their abilities to collaborate with their peers, as well as adults. Students learn to respect and encourage others, to adapt to changes, and to be reliable teammates. We talked with teachers from multiple grade levels successfully integrating technology into lessons and engaging students in becoming active and social learners, through co-use. When co-using a device, students are working with others to figure out how to navigate the content learning within the software, which can lead to higher-order questioning, predicting, inquiry, and other cognitive benefits from this social construction of knowledge. Seeing our students intentionally developing HSSD Graduate Profile characteristics is exciting and rewarding because we know they are being prepared to thrive in our complex and rapidly changing world.
