Bay Harbor Parking Concerns and Availability
Dear Bay Harbor Families and Friends,
As many of you know our parking at Bay Harbor has always been a challenge.
We have a large parent population that picks up and drops off their children on a daily basis. This causes congestion in the parking lots during these times. One of our bigger challenges, however, is when we have large events such as the Holiday Concert, Interest Fair, Family Fun events, etc. During these events it is critical that we utilize our designated parking lots and overflow parking areas to avoid potential citations.
Following our recent Interest Fair, the Brown County Sheriff contacted our office to inform us that during this event as well as other larger events we have had multiple vehicles parked in Fire Lanes, prohibited areas for street parking, as well as other areas that are not allowed for parking.
To avoid any chance of being issued a citation, please be sure to park only in the following designated parking areas. They should be used at all times for pick up and drop off as well as for event parking.
1. Front lot
During the school day, feel free to use the front row parking closest to the school as these are designated for visitors. Parking spots with numbers indicated are for staff parking. For events that take place after school, you may park in any open parking spot in the lot.
2. Playground area (special events only)
During special events only, you may park on the playground which is located behind the school and can be accessed from Birch Road.
3. Overflow gravel lot on Birch Road
This lot is located behind the white house near the playground. You may access it off of Birch Road.
4. Driveway behind the school (special events only)
Please be mindful that there are fire hydrants located along the back driveway so remember to avoid parking in front of them.
5. Idlewild Park
If all other areas are full, there is a paved pathway along Harbor Lights Road that leads to the school from Idlewild Park. In addition, we have a bridge near the baseball diamonds that connects our school to the park.
